"The Bridge of Souls" (Le Pont des Âmes) is an orchestral portrait of Zhitomir's "love bridge", where, over the years, hundreds of locks have been attached to the railings by young lovers, their keys tossed into the river below. The piano part is not virtuosic, serving rather as an independent "observer" of the string orchestra's tone-painting.
