Composer's Note:
Wind Quintet: Es ist genug opens with a twelve-tone passage using a segment of the Fibonacci series for rhythm. This is developed and followed by a more lyrical theme using all major triads with the twelve-tone figures as an obligato. The twelve-tone material is then developed followed by a return to the more lyrical theme. The twelve-tone ideas reappear but are supplanted by the lyrical theme, which is further developed. The twelve-tone material returns and is extended. During which whole-tone patterns emerge leading to the opening of Bach's setting of the chorale Es ist genug ("It is enough"). A final return of the twelve-tone material is overtaken by whole-tone patterns leading to a more extended Es ist genug which ends the work.
