Bird in Space

Bird in Space

Clarinet and Cello

Composer's Note:

Composed for the 2012 Open House Chicago event with Access Contemporary Music, Bird in Space is inspired by the sculpture of the same name, by artist Constantin Brâncuși. This sculpture, once one of Arts Club of Chicago’s most valuable works, was sold in order to finance the new home of the Arts Club of Chicago. This composition reflects the shape and curves of the sculpture. Building from the same note, the cello and clarinet slide into similar notes building the theme.
