MoonDog

MoonDog

String Quartet

Composer's Note:

MoonDog is a short string quartet that was loosely inspired by the work of Louis Hardin (aka Moondog). Materials found in the quartet were generated from abstractions of tunes found on the album Moondog 2. Tracks referenced include "Be a Hobo," "Down is Up," "Maybe," and "Some Trust All." It may be impossible to pinpoint which materials were influenced by any particular melody, but the quartet should be played with melodic phasing and a sense of bounce throughout.
