ECHOMETRY
percussion quartet
"Echometry," for percussion quartet, was composed during the spring of 2012. It was written for and is dedicated to Talujon. A pertinent definition of echometry is "the measurement of the duration of and intervals between sounds." The piece begins with unpitched percussion. Pitched elements, including large and medium gongs, are gradually introduced. These ringing metallic sounds, along with those of the Tam-Tam, the Vibraphone and the Glockenspiel become increasingly important as the piece unfolds.
