Composer's note: Commissioned by The Musical Club of Hartford on the occasion of their 125 Anniversary. I have a nerve to set (arguably) the most famous American poem! Since the mission of The Hartford Musical Club, however, is to welcome amateurs and professionals alike to make music, this poem spoke to the deep passion for music in the hearts of all the gifted members of the Club.
