Contrabassoon and Four Vocalists

Performance Notes:

All vocalists are to sit in the audience while the performance is taking place. They should try their best not to bring attention to themselves as musicians; rather, they should behave like a regular, nondescript concert attendee. If possible, they should memorize their parts before the performance, so as not to let others know that they will be reading music while watching the soloist play the contrabassoon part for the audience.

When performing this work, do NOT mention the fact that this piece incorporates four singers in any way whatsoever! Don't print this in recital notes, promotional materials, online, or anywhere else where it will be noticed by the general public. The audience needs to be surprised by the singers' performances. That is part of what makes this piece so much fun to begin with.
