Composer's Note:

The musical materials of the Ubi Caritas are comprised primarily of a section cut from a piece commissioned by Iowa State University, and uses the incipit of the school's alma mater as a source for imitative counterpoint. I chose portions of the Catholic text which have a more universal message (and which felt most resonant to me personally) to make it suitable for any number of traditions and situations. The concluding "Amen" may also be omitted when appropriate or expedient.
