The inaugural event in the new experimental venue of the Kharkov [Ukraine] opera house features works by Richard Cameron-Wolfe, highlighted by productions of two of his micro-operas: Through a Glass Darkly and A Sound-Shroud for Bill Knott. The program will also include his flute/piano Kyrie(Mantra)IV and the 7-part cantata Breathless, in a new scoring for mezzo soprano, baritone, cello, and guitar quartet. Additionally, Cameron-Wolfe will perform piano works by Dane Rudhyar and Leo Ornstein.
Performers: Armen Kaloyan (actor, Principal Director of Cxid opera), Anna Bychkova (mezzo-soprano), Mykola Kushnirenko (baritone), Ksenia Konoval (flute), Sergii Gorkusha (conductor, guitarist), the Kharkov GuitarQuartet, Irina Avdeyeva (dancer), a 5-voice madrigal group, and several other fine Kharkov musicians.
