Music of H. Leslie Adams in masterclass symposium, directed by Louise Toppin

Videmus Music Festival ("Reflecting on the Past ., ., ., Reaching Toward
the Future") held at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Thomas Otten, pianist, performs Adams' E Major, F Minor,
and G Sharp Minor Etudes for Piano on 3/23 at 8 pm.
Sarah Pederson, pianist, performs the F Minor Etude in Karen Walwyn's
Masterclass on 3/24 at 10 am. William Chapman Nyaho, pianist, performs
Etude in C Sharp Minor during the festival.

The musical works of women, African-American and other
under-represented composers will be highlighted March 21-25 at the Videmus festival at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

@ 25: Reflecting on the Past Reaching Toward the Future features
concerts, lectures, panel discussions and master classes by artists
including composer and Tufts University professor emeritus T.J.
Anderson
, Grammy Award-winning musician Herbie Hancock, opera stars
Leona Mitchell, George Shirley and Marquita Lister, and Judith Ann
Still, daughter of composer William Grant Still.

Videmus (Latin
for we see) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the classical
works of under-represented composers through recordings, concerts,
scholarships and educational programming. Louise Toppin,
professor of music in UNCs College of Arts and Sciences, directs the
organization. The series of events honoring Videmus 25th anniversary
is the focus of this years Festival on the Hill.
