Scirocco

Scirocco

Piano

Composer's Note:

Scirocco is a short, fast capricious piece named for the fast, intense hot wind that comes from the Sahara and blows into northern Africa and the mideast. The music is full of runs and whirls, of shifting harmonies and twisting rhythms. It is dedicated to pianist Mary Kathleen Ernst who premiered it at the Biblioteca Municipal in Segorbe, Spain on 10/26/1985, with additional performances in Madrid and Valencia.
