ROBIN'S PIECE
solo clarinet
This composition for unaccompanied clarinet incorporates the use of quarter-tones and was premiered at Carnagie Recital Hall on a series sponsored by New York impresario Norman Seaman. It was then performed at New England Conservatory on my senior recital and again in 1981 on my Juilliard recital where beloved clarinet instructor, Leon Russianoff, was so taken by the piece that he gave copies of the manuscript to many of his students and encouraged its performance. As a result the work took on a life of its own and was played as far away as Perth, Australia.
