Omiphony is a brief, energetic kaleidoscope of sound that starts with static, repeated tones in trumpets, cascades in and out of the low register, then gathers sweeping momentum to the end. Though it may be done in standard configuration on a proscenium stage, it also affords the option of various instruments being placed around the auditorium so that listeners are literally surrounded by sound. This makes for spatial, "relativistic" effects not evident in a standard concert setting.
