The 2016 International Trombone Festival at The Juilliard School is here in New York City June 8-11. This 45th annual event will unite many whom share a common passion for the trombone, celebrating the instrument in all its facets with many activities including - world premieres, recitals, masterclasses, exhibits, chamber music, jazz concerts, and a special concert at the New York Philharmonic.
Blair Bollinger will perform Sonata for Bass Trombone and Piano by Steven Sacco, at an ARTISTS RECITAL at Paul Hall, The Juilliard School , on Friday, June 10th at 3:30pm.
Bollinger joined the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1986 and enjoys the full Orchestra schedule of more than 150 concerts each year. As a soloist, Mr. Bollinger has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, National Symphony of Taiwan and is the only bass trombone soloist ever with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
His trombone is the Bollinger Model bass trombone by the S.E. Shires Company of Hopedale, MA; a trombone Mr. Bollinger helped design. His recordings include a solo disc, "Fancy Free", hailed by American Record Guide as "The recording I've been waiting for ... an amazing display of Bollinger's virtuoso skills."
A respected teacher, Mr. Bollinger is on faculty at the Curtis Institute, Juilliard School and Temple University.
