Featuring music by our 2014 composer-in-residence Nathan Heidelberger, including Descriptions of the Moon-a
song cycle for mezzo-soprano and piano that sets texts from nine
different authors and poets.This song cycle will be interwoven with a
new composition by Nathanwritten especially forOerknal! Also on the docket arethe crisis of conscience when making war but the need is to make love (and vice versa) - a fiercely energetic and original sextet by American composer Lewis Nielson and Pression a strikingly visceral piece by Helmut Lachenmann exploring the boundaries of sound that can be produced by a solo cello.
