Marc Peloquin performs piano music of Lionel Nowak, Bennington, VT, Nov. 2nd

The Bennington Museum, at 75 Main Street in Bennington, Vermont, will host a concert of piano music by composer Lionel Nowak, on Sunday, November 2nd at 4pm. The concert will also feature music by Otto Luening and Allen Shawn. Nowak was on the faculty of Bennington College from 1948 to 1993, with the major portion of his prolific output of songs and chamber works composed for his colleagues at Bennington.

A new collected edition of the piano works of Lionel Nowak is forthcoming from American Composers Alliance, in 2015. A new recording release, also in 2015 will feature 20 tracks--archival recordings, including recordings made by the composer, as well as new recordings by pianist Marc Peloquin.

A New York Times critic recently declared pianist Marc Peloquin's "energetic approach yielded a performance that was refreshing and alive. Individual lines rang out with remarkable definition and clarity..." Appearances have taken him from the Palacio de Belles Artes in Mexico City, the American Academy in Rome, Germany's Darmstadt Festival and the Cultural Center of Roubaix, France, to New York City spaces including Merkin Concert Hall, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and Bargemusic. A refined and sensitive chamber musician, he and fellow pianist Roberto Hidalgo are the dynamic ensemble Split Second.
