Composers Concordance,
a presenting organization for contemporary music with a 27-year
history of successful premieres in NYC, announces an unusual concert
event to take place at the Performing Center of St. Sava Cathedral: 20
West 26th St (Broadway) on Tuesday, May 31st, at 8pm.
The event's theme is
'Generations', and will feature the distinctive music of two
competition winners: one composer age 20 or younger, and another composer age
70 or older. The dynamic ensemble Circadia will perform, featuring
clarinetist Christopher Cullen, flutist Kaoru Hinata, violinist Lynn
Bechtold, cellist Jennifer DeVore, and pianist
Dimitri Dover.
The lively program
will also include a piccolo solo composed by Louis Calabro, a violin solo
by Otto Luening entitled 'Fantasia and Dance', a duo by Derek Bermel
entitled 'Coming Together', and a duo by Dan Cooper entitled
'Bowery', as well as exciting world premieres: a trio
by Joseph Pehrson
entitled 'Altered', and a quartet by Gene Pritsker entitled 'At a
Respectful Distance'.
Tickets are $15 / $10
for students and seniors. A light-fare reception will follow the
concert.
