Ohio State UniversityThe Society of Composers, Inc. National Conference, will take place at The
Ohio State University, School of Music in Columbus, from February 13 to 16. Ten works by ACA composers are scheduled for performance.
On Wednesday, Feb. 13, the evening concert features Slammed by James
Paul Sain
For Soprano Saxophone, iPad, and Computer.
Anubis QuartetOn Thursday, Feb. 14, OK-OK by Lansing
McLoskey will be performed
by featured ensemble, the Anubis Saxophone Quartet.
On Friday, Feb. 15 at 1pm, Hall of Mirrors by Elliott Schwartz for Saxophone Quartet and
Piano will be performed by the Ohio University (Athens) New Music Ensemble in
Weigel Hall. At 3pm, Circular
Motions by Richard Brooks for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano.
Sotto Voce by Marilyn
Shrude
for Violin, Cello, and Piano will be performed at the evening concert.
On Saturday,
Feb. 16, the morning concert will feature, Perne in a
Gyre by Elizabeth Bell for Clarinet, Violin, Cello, and Piano;
Songs of Evocation by Brian Bevelander for Mezzo Soprano and
Piano; Consort II: Photogramby Brian Fennelly for Saxophone Quartet. In the afternoon concerts, B-A-C-Homage by Elizabeth Austin for Viola and Piano will be performed;
and Romances and Metamorphoses by Gerald Warfield for Flute, Clarinet,
Violin, Cello, and Piano.
The Society of Composers, Inc., hosts several regional conferences
and a national conference each year. Members are invited to submit
compositions, paper presentations, sound installations, or panel
discussions for any conference, regardless of its location or
region, dependent on the performance or other limitations as set forth
in the individual calls for scores.
Composers are usually required to attend conferences at which their
compositions are performed. See the conference schedule below for
upcoming regional and national events. Members are encouraged to be in touch with the respective conference hosts or the national office if they have any questions.
