Paul Paccione


Paul Paccione (b. 1952) began his musical studies as a classical guitarist at Mannes College of Music, New York City, and while a student there began private composition studies with Harley Gaber. He receieved his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory from Mannes in 1974 and then attended the University of California, San Diego where he studied with Pauline Oliveros and privately with Kenneth Gaburo. Paccione receieved his Master of Arts degree in Music Theory from U.C.S.D. in 1977 and then entered the doctoral program at the University of Chicago as a student of Ralph Shapey in 1978. He continued doctoral work at the University of Iowa, where he studied composition wtih William Hibbard and electronic music with the late Peter Lewis. He received a Ph.D in Musical Composition from the University of Iowa in 1983.
