Treemonisha selections to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the opera premiere, Columbia Civic Orchestra and Choral Union, April 28

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Scott Joplin's opera Treemonisha  (T.J. Anderson's orchestration), which was performed in 1972 by the Atlanta Symphony together with Robert Shaw and singers from several ensembles, the Columbia Civic Orchestra and Choral Union will perform selections from this American opera at Jesse Auditorium (University of Missouri), on April 28th, 2022 - location: 801 Conley Ave -  Columbia, MO 65211  Box Office: (573) 882-3781. 

Choral Union, University Singers, and the Columbia Civic Orchestra are working together to present a variety of choral/orchestral favorites, from the opera choruses of Beethoven and Verdi to TREEMONISHA by Scott Joplin (Scenes 9 (Good Advice); 16 (We Will Rest A While);  18 (Aunt Dinah has blow'd de horn) and the Finale (A Real Slow Drag), and the rarely heard CHARIOT JUBILEE by R. Nathaniel Dett.
