Rapunzel the opera by Richard Brooks - Live at Pittsburgh Festival Opera, July 9 and 11

Pittsburgh Festival Opera Education department will present RAPUNZEL by Richard Brooks (Composer) & Harold Mason (Librettist). The Opera in the Neighborhood program is no cost for children in local elementary schools are provided with an introduction to the world of opera. On July 9th at 12noon at New Hazlett Theater, and Monday July 11th at 2pm at Schenley Plaza Tent. Tickets are online or by telephone 412.621.1499.

 

RAPUNZEL by Richard Brooks (Composer) & Harold Mason (Librettist). Our story begins with the traveling Balladeer who tells us a tale of when he met the Prince in the woods looking for adventure. The Balladeer says there is a tower in the middle of the dark forest where a beautiful voice can be heard. Together the venture deep in the woods where they find a tower with no doors and no windows. At the bottom they hear some one call out “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair to me!” Then they see the longest, most gorgeous hair fall from the top of the tower, and climbing up to the top window was a Witch. The Prince vows to free Rapunzel from the tower. Would you like to come along and see how the story ends?
