Symphony No. 5

Composer's Note:

I began writing my fifth symphony less than a week after completing the fourth and finished it within twenty days about the beginning of December. I think that the reason for this burst of creativity had to do with the recently-decided 2020 election, which seemed to me like a breath of fresh air, and I was amazed at how quickly everything flowed. I am particularly proud of the slow passages (there are several) in which I double the alto flute with vibraphone, non vib. I think that this one is my favorite of the three.
