World premiere of Robert Carl's White Heron, Bridgeport Symphony March 17

Hall, Bridgeport CT, will premiere WHITE HERON, a new work by Robert Carl. It is scored for large orchestra and will be conducted by Edward Cumming.

According to Kyle Gann, Carl possesses "one of the widest expressive ranges of any composer of his generation." Carl has written works for soloists Evelyn Glennie, percussion;
Robert Black, contrabass; Kathleen Supové, piano; and John Bruce Yeh,
clarinet, among others. Author of the extensive study, "Terry Riley’s In C" published in 2009, Carl is also chair of the Composition
Department at the Hartt School, University of Hartford and has been a
director of the Extension Works new music ensemble in Boston.
