U.S. Army Band hosts African American composers at NMAAH in Washington DC, Feb. 26th

Join the U.S. Army Band, Pershing’s Own, in a performance of chamber music works by esteemed African American classical music composers including H. Leslie Adams, Valerie Coleman, David Sanford, Alvin Singleton, and William Grant Still. The 90-minute concert, with intermission, will be followed by a Smithsonian-moderated discussion, and end with audience Q&A. The tenor Colin Eaton (pictured above) will perform music by ACA's H. Leslie Adams. MSG Colin Eaton has been lauded as ‘a commanding tenor that sings with great aplomb’ (Washington Post) and ‘possesses the ability to dazzle audiences with ease’ (Baltimore Sun). He is known around the Metropolitan DC area and internationally for his classical and operatic repertoire. In 2004, Colin had the honor of serving as a featured soloist at President Ronald Reagan's interment ceremony. He has been a featured soloist for seven of the Sergeant Major of the Army's Hope and Freedom tours to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan
