THE MUSIC OF JOHN LESSARD
A Tribute Concert
    
John Lessard, composer

John Lessard, whose career as a highly regarded composer spanned 60 years, was a seminal member of the Stony Brook Department of Music from 1962 to 1990. Students, former students and faculty will come together to honor him in a recital of his music, which will include many of his songs and works for percussion, guitar and woodwind quintet. The concert will feature a special guest artist, soprano Tony Arnold, in a performance of Lessard's 1984 work Pond in a Bowl. Other artists include Tory Browers, Dominic Donato, George Fisher, Eduardo Leandro, Steve Paysen, Jerry Willard and members of the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players.

Student Recitals

There are nearly 300 student recitals performed throughout the year, usually four a day, which constitutes a major requirement of the graduate performance degree.  All recitals are open to the public and are offered free of charge.  It is strongly advised to call ahead or check the website as these concerts are subject to change.

 

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased ahead of time or the night of performances from the Staller Center Box Office.  Seniors over 65 and students of any school (with ID) can purchase tickets at a 50% discount with the exception of Faculty Recitals and Emerson String Quartet performances.  To order tickets, call (631) 632-ARTS or visit the box office in the lobby of the Staller Center, Monday through Saturday, 12pm to 6pm.
