Philip Carlsen's Asa Nisi Masa world premiere in Maine, June 17th

Asa Nisi Masa, a new work by Philip Carlsen for violin and chamber orchestra, is being premiered in three concerts in downeast Maine June 17-19 by Trond Saeverud and the Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra: Fri, Jun 17, in Eastport; Sat, Jun 18, in Machias; and Sun, Jun 19, in Calais. The Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra (PBSO) Spring Concert Series features internationally known piano soloist, Evelyn Chen, playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor. In addition, the orchestra will present the world premiere of three new works by Maine composers: Gregory Biss and John Newell of Eastport, and Philip Carlsen, Professor Emeritus of the University of Maine at Farmington.
