Parma Music Festival 2013 to feature Bevelander, Brooks, Fennelly, Foss, Wiemann, and many others, Aug 15-17

The PARMA Music Festival
2013
, in Portsmouth, New
Hampshire, Thurs-Sat August 15-17, 2013 will feature ten concerts of music and panel sessions, in various venues.

Scheduled performances of ACA works include Beth Weimann's The Only Color I Have for soprano, mezzo soprano, and flute/piccolo; Brian Bevelander's Songs of Evocation, for mezzo soprano and piano; Brian Fennelly's Sukhi! for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano; and Richard Brooks's Sweet Betsy, a fantasy on an American folksong, for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano; as well as the posthumous world premiere of a work by longtime ACA member Lukas Foss,  Elegy for clarinet and orchestra (1949). 

The Festival will feature
Grammy Award-winning clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, Portsmouth indie rock icons
Tan Vampires, the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, soul music from Qwill and the
Dejas, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, and much more, including multiple world
premieres, a Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) conference, and "more than one
genre-bending experiment" according to Parma CEO, Bob Lord. 

The festival is being produced
by PARMA Recordings and Classical Music by the Sea, in collaboration with
Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC), Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (PSO),
the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI), Boston New Music Initiative (BNMI), The
Music Hall, Great Bay Academy of Dance (GBAD), Classical NH, and New Hampshire
Public Radio (NHPR).

TICKETS

All events are free of charge
except for the Main Event at The Music Hall. Tickets for the Saturday August
17 Main Event are $10 and can be purchased at The Music Hall Box Office at 28
Chestnut Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by phone at 603-436-2400 or on
