The new CD project Dragon, featuring the Alloy Saxophone Quartet and Bill Perconti, will be released by Albany Records on Oct. 1. The CD will feature world-premiere recordings of music by Allan Blank, Frederic Rzewski, Hilary Tann, Joan Tower, and Joseph Waters.
Perconti also released a CD in 2011 The Saxophone Music of Allan Blank. Blank is one of the most prolific major American composers for the saxophone. Saxophonist Bill Perconti is a Professor of Music at Lewis-Clark State College. He has been an ardent champion of American composers.
Perconti has recorded twenty-two world-premier works on eleven recordings since 1994 as a soloist and leader of the Alloy Saxophone Quartet, the LCSC Chamber Players, and the Idaho Saxophone Trio. Perconti’s four solo/ensemble CDs are with Albany, Centaur, and Crystal Records. The 2013 release of his CD Women Composers and Their Music for Saxophone is the first of it’s kind for classical saxophone.
