New album Quotations & Homages – release on Reference Recordings, April 6

Music by Tom Flaherty, Missy Mazzoli, Peter Yates, Daniel Felsenfeld, and much more, recorded by Multiple GRAMMY® nominated pianist Nadia Shpachenko who enjoys bringing into the world things that are outside the box – powerful pieces that often possess unusual sonic qualities or instrumentation. Described by critics as a “truly inspiring and brilliant pianist… spellbinding in sensitivity and mastery of technique,” she performs on piano, toy piano, harpsichord, and percussion in concerts that often also feature recitation, electronics and multimedia.  Avaiilable on Amazon and other retailers.

An enthusiastic promoter of contemporary music, Nadia has given world and national premieres of more than 60 works including music of Elliott Carter, George Crumb, Daniel Felsenfeld, Tom Flaherty, Annie Gosfield, Vera Ivanova, Leon Kirchner, Amy Beth Kirsten, Hannah Lash, James Matheson, Missy Mazzoli, and others. Most recently Nadia performed contemporary solo and chamber compositions on Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella and Chamber Music Series, the Piano Spheres Series, Salastina Music Society, and Hear Now Music Festival.

"Delivered with an authority and unhesitating know-how that left no room for doubt, Shpachenko’s virtuoso program of new music for piano—both solo and electronically fleshed—revealed how convincingly present-day composers can match the prestidigital feats of Liszt and Chopin… Shpachenko’s thoughtfully ordered offering of uniformly winning pieces, centered on a theme of “quotations and homages,” was an homage to the audience—an inviting, overflowing musical cornucopia, impacting listeners all the more directly in its uninterrupted flow."  Steven Niles, New Classic LA
