Music of Matthew Greenbaum, with the Momenta Quartet, April 2 and 27

Matthew Greenbaum, composerThe Momenta Quartet featured composer this spring is Matthew Greenbaum, one of the earliest supporters of the quartet. Momenta premiered his work “More Venerable Canons” on February 25th at Tenri Gallery in Manhattan. Stephanie Griffin sat down with the composer recently for this interview.

And on April 27th, Momenta returns for its annual concert celebrating Jewish composers from the present and past, including a world premiere by David Glaser and Milhaud’s String Quartet No. 3. Joining Momenta will be guest artists Molly Morkowski, piano; Chris Grimes, clarinet, and Re’ut Ben-Ze’ev, mezzo soprano.
The program will also include More Venerable Canons, by Matthew Greenbaum, and String Quartet (2014) by Hana Ajiashvili.
