This weekend, the Portland Conservatory of Music in Portland, Maine, will present the 5th annual Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival from April 12-14. This year’s festival is directed by Joshua DeScherer and Elliott Schwartz, and will feature Boston-area composer and Tufts University professor John McDonald.
Friday, April 12, 7 PM: Concert featuring music by Mark Tipton, Beth Wiemann, William Matthews, Gia Comolli, and Mark Piszczek.
Saturday, April 13:
1 PM: Lecture/Performance with the Oratorio Chorale,
guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan, and composer Vineet Shende.
3 PM: Student Concert featuring PCM students
7 PM: Concert featuring music by Daniel Sonenberg, Joshua DeScherer, John McDonald, Josh Newton, and Elliott Schwartz
Sunday, April 14:
3 PM: Composers Round Table
7 PM: Concert featuring the University of Southern Maine Composers Ensemble and music by Joshua DeScherer, John McDonald, Peter McLaughlin, Abriel Ferreira, and Gay Pearson
