Lucy Shelton will reprise her premiere performance of Nine Portraits from the Wild, by Gheorghe Costinescu, Nov. 4

Featuring Soprano Lucy Shelton, 21st Century Consort's upcoming season concert on Nov. 4 at the Smithsonian Institution in D.C. connects with the Smithsonian's exhibit:  Mexican artist influenced by Picasso; shared common interests with younger American artists including Jackson Pollock and Adolph Gottlieb, indigenous art, mythical themes, increasingly non-representational imagery, and the anxieties of World War II. Tamayo’s fierce and symbolic animal paintings and artworks evoking celestial themes from the 1940s are a special focus of the exhibition.
