Louis Karchin's Two Songs on Poems of Seamus Heaney, two performances with Marisa Karchin, Sept. 30, Oct. 9

On Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at 3 PM,  Two Songs on Poems of Seamus Heaney by Louis Karchin will be performed at Lehigh University's beautiful Zoellner Center for the Arts, Bethlehem, PA, on a program with additional works by Paul Salerni, Hugo Wolf, Giacomo Puccini, and Pierangelo Valtinoni.  Marisa Karchin is the soprano soloist in the Heaney Songs and the Valtinoni work, with Blair McMillen, piano. Other performers include mezzo-soprano Jessica Bowers and the Dali String Quartet. 

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, 8 PM, Marisa Karchin will perform her Weill Hall Recital Debut as the winner of this year's Joy-in-Singing International Competition. She will perform Two Songs on Poems of Seamus Heaney composed by her father, composer Louis Karchin, with her longtime accompanist, Haodong Wu, in a solo recital that includes additional works by Purcell, Lili Boulanger, Turina, Obukhov, and Richard Strauss.
