Upcoming performances of music by Louis Karchin:

Sunday, Oct. 1,  pianist Steven Drury will perform Lyrics II on a program at 3 PM at the Lehigh University's Zoellner Center for the Arts along with Ives' monumental Concord Sonata.  

Thursday, Oct. 12, the new Avery Fisher Center at Bobst Library, NYU (70 Washington Square South), celebrates its opening with a concert at 6 PM focused on electronic works, and will include EXCURSIONS for viola and electronics, with Lois Martin  performing this piece, which was written for her.
 
Saturday, Oct. 14, Peggy Kampemier will premiere Karchin's latest piano work, Rochester Celebration, on a concert at Kilbourne Hall at the Eastman School of Music, 4:00 PM. This event celebrates the retirement of pianist Barry Snyder from Eastman, and will include four commissioned works for the occasion, as well as a host of performances by former Snyder students.  
 
Hymns from the Dark, for chorus and organ, celebrates the 500th Anniversary of the Edicts of Luther. It will be presented in Italy on Oct. 28 and 31. Hymns from the Dark was written for Corale Caminese (pictured above) at the invitation of the Italian composer and conductor, Riccardo Vaglini, to be premiered in Camino al Tagliamento (near Udine), and performed again in Venice on the exact anniversary of the Edicts, at the Chiesa di San Trovaso (near the Peggy Guggenheim Museum), on October 31 at 8:00 PM.
