David Liptak in residence: New-Music Consortium at University of South Florida, April 9 -11

The New-Music Consortium at the University of South Florida is proud to present Alive: The Music of David Liptak, featuring works by David Liptak and the two winning compositions from the Consortium’s 2015 Call for Scores.

These works will be presented on April 10, 2015 at 7:30 pm, in Barness Recital Hall at the University of South Florida School of Music. The concert is free and open to the public.

David Liptak is currently a composition faculty member at the Eastman School of Music. Liptak will be in residence for three days at USF to work with student ensembles, composers, and give a lecture on his own music. His works will be performed by members of the USF New-Music Consortium, the USF Percussion Ensemble directed by Robert McCormick, and USF faculty pianist Eunmi Ko.

The 2015 Call for Scores received an overwhelming response from composers around the world, with over 200 submissions from 36 countries. One work was selected in each category of Acoustic and Electronic Music. The finalists were Gabriel Bolaños (USA/Nicaragua) in the acoustic category and Daniel Blinkhorn (Sydney, Australia) in the electronic category.
