Cantata Mein Lebenslauf by Georg Schönberg, brought back to life with arrangement by Richard Brooks

On
December 3, 2011, the Brooks-arranged cantata will be performed under the direction of
Arturo Ortega at the University of North Texas in Denton. Arnold Greissle-Schönberg, nephew of Georg, will offer some
preliminary remarks.

The World Premiere was
hosted by The Lark Ascending, a performance group headed by Nancy Bogen,
at the Austrian Cultural Forum on November 4, 2004 as part of its
program titled Vienna Vidi Vici. To hear this performance of Mein Lebenslauf, go to the audio section of Schoenberg's European Family by Arnold Greissle-Schoenberg with Nancy Bogen.

The score of this work
was arranged for performance by American composer Richard Brooks at the
request of Nancy Bogen. Also at her request, Mr. Brooks is preparing a
critical edition of all Georg Schönberg works.

The archives of Nancy
Bogen, Georg Schönberg, and The Lark Ascending, as well as that of her
husband Arnold Greissle-Schönberg, are in the permanent collection of
the Music Library of the University of North Texas.
