Avshalomov's Peiping Hutungs Symphonic Poem to be performed by Seattle Symphony, Jan. 31st

The Seattle Symphony’s annual Celebrate Asia concert is a rare opportunity to revel in the rich musical traditions of Seattle’s Asian communities. This year's concert features Peiping Hutungs: Symphonic Poem on Chinese Street Sounds by Aaron Avshalomov, Passacaglia: Secret of Wind and Birds by Tan Dun, and Cries Xiaogang Ye’s Starry Sky for Piano and Orchestra which premiered at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Plus, community choruses perform popular Asian folk songs including Jasmine Flower and Arirang.  Conductor Jindong Cai leads the Seattle Symphony in this extraordinary concert event.
