The 2013 Atlanta Music Festival, September 18-21, will involve the Atlanta community through lecture, panel discussions, master classes for young musicians, a demonstration of our summer conservatory camp for children, and a climactic concert featuring opera star Laquita Mitchell, the Vega String Quartet, the Chancel Choir of First Congregational Church, the Morehouse College Glee Club, and the Meridian Chorale and soloists. Dwight Andrews is the Festival Artistic Director and Steven Darsey is Music Director.
The Gala concert on Saturday, September 21 (7pm) will include "Personals" by T.J. Anderson, a Cantata for Narrator, Mixed Choir, and Brass Ensemble, as well as "Modes" for string quartet by Dorothy Rudd Moore. Performers will include Laquita Mitchell, soprano; Timothy Miller, tenor; the Vega String Quartet; and the Meridian Chorale.
