This year, ACA presents four unique concerts, featuring 26 composers from
all around the United States, and many internationally-known artists,
performing independent American concert music composed between 1950 and 2011.
On Monday, "Essays in Sound" with soprano Patricia Sonego performing works by John Melby and Richard Brooks; Peter Jarvis will perform a work by Arthur Kreiger, and Stephen Gosling will perform a world premiere by Gheorghe Costinescu, "Essay in Sound". A work by Hubert Howe will feature dancer Linda Past, and Robert Ceely brings a new electronic piece that reflects his early tape work in Milan, and John Eaton presents a work for two pianos, tuned a quarter-tone apart, with soprano soloist.
On Wednesday, "Soliloquies" with music by Elizabeth Bell (Soliloquy for solo cello, featuring Andrea Lee), two works by Steven R. Gerber, and Frederick Tillis, plus guest composers Sean Shepherd and Nicholas Csicsko, and the great pierrot ensemble, Lunatics at Large, will perform works by Raoul Pleskow, Marilyn Bliss, and Frederick Tillis.
On Thursday, "Voices" will feature song settings by Joyce Hope Suskind and Glenn Stallcop, as well as a jazz fantasy by Barbara Jazwinski, featuring clarinetist Esther Lamneck, two unusual duos by Jody Rockmaker and Lewis Nielson, and a newly recorded piano work by Christopher Shultis, with Falko Steinbach, pianist.
On Friday, "Pairings" fits together the string quartet idiom with a South Indian veena soloist in a suite by Jan Gilbert; a large-ensemble piece by David Fulmer, featuring saxophonist, Eliot Gattegno, duos by Edith Borroff and Lansing McLoskey, plus Elliott Schwartz's Darwin's Dream II, and vocal works by Margaret Fairlie-Kennedy.
