Marc Peloquin’s new recordings of eight works on Album I are paired with historic recordings on Album II of live performances at Bennington College by Claude Frank, Allen Shawn and Nowak himself, newly re-mastered (some from original reel-to-reel tapes). The new double album, recorded in January 2015 and engineered by Ryan Streber, is available on CD and by download from CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes and other vendors.

Virgil Thomson wrote of Nowak’s music: “Intellectual assurance and full command of sonorous resources mark all his work…admirably composed for their instruments. They ‘sound’ as musicians would say. They are also notable throughout for their intrinsic beauty of the musical materials and for the elegance of their harmony…”

This album release coincides with a new publication of sheet music by the American Composers Alliance, “Lionel Nowak: Music for Solo Piano 1942-91”, which contains all 18 pieces, many in newly engraved editions.  Contact ACA to inquire or place an order.
