This micro-opera was written in memory of the composer's grandmother, Marie. Inspired by the visual/sonic/kinetic structures of concrete poetry, its "libretto" is a collage of three sources: a poem (sung), a small-town newspaper "in memoriam" (sprechstimme), and a classical formula using "imaginary numbers" (abstractly intoned). Three interpenetrating responses to the loss of a loved one: intellectual, emotional, and poetic.
