A work for SATB acappella choir divided throughout into 16 parts (4-4-4-4-). The 4 line Latin sacred verse which serves as the text is broken down into its component vowel, consonant, and dipthong content and sung thusly by the choir in a texture which consists to a large extent of slowly changing diatonic tone clusters. There is some graphic notation, including proportional, and sound pronunciation is indicated with the International phonetic alphabet. Only at the end is the full text spoken in its original Latin in a staggered manner throughout the choir. The piece is stark and dramatic, and requires experienced singers willing to learn new vocal techniques.
