Description
This cantata for soprano, baritone, and 6 instruments sets Tatyana Apraksina's poem of love, identity, and exile - in a counterpoint of Russian and English.[When one performer is singing a phrase in Russian, the other sings the English translation.] At one point, all of the instrumental performers join the singers to form a speaking chorus; in other places, the percussionist and conductor are called upon to briefly join the pianist.
First Perfomance
May 18, 2008 - Elena Antonenko (soprano), Sergei Romanov (baritone), Fedor Lednev (conductor); St. Petersburg Spring Festival (Russia)
