An opera in two acts for orchestra, chorus, jazz combo, 5 soloists. Commissioned in 1982 by Indiana University and the National Endowment for the Arts with libretto by Leon Forrest.

Orch: 1(+picc)111 - 211(btbn)1, perc (2), timp - strings;  Jazz Ens:  alto sax, tpt, tbn, pf, electric bass, drumset

Singers/Cast: Sop, Contralto, Tenor, Bass, and a spoken part
