Michael Slayton

Biography

Michael Slayton is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition and Chair of the Composition/Theory Department at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a student of Michael Horvit, Jerome Reed, David Ashley White. He is a member of the American Composers Alliance, the College Music Society, the Society of Composers, Inc., the South Central Society for Music Theory, and BMI.

Accomplishments:

Performances in Chemnitz, Zeitz, Leipzig, Droyssig, and Weimar, Germany; the Conservatoire royale de Bruxelles, Belgium; the Operafestival Kristiansund, Kristiansund, Norway; the Festival Internacional de Piano in Aviero, Portugal; the Festival International Albert Roussel in Marquette-lez-Lille, France; Tours, France; Johannesburg and Potchefstroom, South Africa; Royal Academy of Music, London; and New York, NY. Papers/lectures delivered at the Society of Composer's National Conference, Greensboro, NC; Hopewell Valley School-Performing and Visual Arts Division, Princeton, NJ; le Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, Belgium.
