Laura Greenberg

Biography

Laura Greenberg studied English literature and music at Brooklyn
College, Manhattan School of Music, City College and Columbia
Universty. She teaches music at CUNY's John Jay College. Her
compositions have been performed in the U.S. and abroad, and recorded
by Opus ONe Records and Vienna Modern Masters. She is the author of Memorizing Time (Portamento Press, 2000), a memoir of her Brooklyn childhood as a young musician, her struggle to leave home
during the turbulent sixties, and her evolution into a modern, urban
composer. The memoir depicts encounters with music teachers who
changed her life and many extraordinary lessons, both taken and given.
It is a profoundly personal story of one woman's progress through the
second half of the twentieth century. - Amazon
