Frederick Tillis’s Spiritual Fantasies No. 1 and No. 32, for piccolo trumpet in C and piano, present two versions of the same work: the full-length 1980 No. 1, and the shortened and simplified 2007 No. 32. Both are written on the American Negro Spiritual “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child.”
