Composer's note:
Hyperbolic Variations for Violin and Disklavier (2019). This piece is one of a projected series of pieces that seek ways of combining computer technology (the Disklavier) with live performers on traditional instruments in ways that empower (rather than overshadow) the performers. These variations are “hyperbolic” in the sense of exaggeration: my algorithmic approach to the Disklavier part produces unusually rapid rates of registral (pitch) ascent and descent, and the scalar structures sometimes produce ultra-Romantic chromatic harmonies. The piece contrasts the often dense, rapid, harmonically constrained performance of the Disklavier with the much freer, more lyrical lines of the violin. (DEJ)

Provided in the score is a link to download: 1) A MIDI file for playback by Disklavier (computer-controlled piano). 2) An audio recording of the Disklavier part for rehearsal purposes only. 3) A studio recording (Kate Stenberg, violin).
The score contains a Disklavier "cue line" with which the violinist approximately coordinates.
