{"title":"Griffiths, Wendy","description":"\u003cp\u003eWorks by \u003cstrong\u003eWendy Griffiths\u003c\/strong\u003e have been performed in Europe, South America, North America, South Korea and Japan.  Her chamber works, piano pieces, art songs, rock songs, orchestral works, choral works and dances have appeared in a wide range of venues; at the Merce Cunningham studio, the International Women’s Brass Conference, the Manhattan School of Music, the Yale-Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Composers’ Concordance (2025), The International Double Reed Society Conference (2025), the Encounters (dance) series, the Storm King Music Festival, Music Under Construction, in Stockholm performed by the Acidophilus Ensemble, The National Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C. performed by the Washington Master Chorale, the Church of St. Luke in the Fields, CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory and The Highline Ballroom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHer opera “The Quiet American,” was supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and she has received grants from Meet the Composer and the American Music Center. She was commissioned by Beth Soll and Company to compose music for “Dances of Passion and Peace” which was premiered at University Settlement in 2019. More recently she composed music Alison Cook Beatty for a workshop performance at City Center Studios.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHer concert music can be heard on Albany records on American Reed performed by the Double Entendre Double Reed ensemble and Arabesque Records who recently released a collection of her piano music, \u003cem\u003eViews from the Keyboard.\u003c\/em\u003e Ms. Griffiths also appears as a keyboard player\/singer with her band \u003ca href=\"www.changingmodes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"\u003eChanging Modes\u003c\/a\u003e for whom she has written and recorded 2EPs and 10 full-length CDs. Her band performs regularly in lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and on regional tours in the U.S.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn addition, Ms. Griffiths works as a ballet accompanist and currently plays for the Joffrey Ballet School, Steps on Broadway and the outreach program of Mark Morris Dance Group. Ms. Griffiths holds a B.A. from Barnard College and an M.M. from the Mannes College of Music. She received her D.M.A. in music composition from the CUNY Grad Center where she studied with Thea Musgrave, Bruce Saylor and David Olan.
