James Beale: Woodwind Quintet

The Woodwind Quintet of James Beale received its first performance by the SONI VENTORUM wind quintet in Seattle, Washington, March 5, 2001. The work is in four movements, of which the first is an Allegro containing march-like elements. The second movement is a set of six variations, 15 measures in length, which then opens up into a freer coda. The third movement is a rondo, and the final movement echoes textures and motifs from the previous three movements.
